In the province of west Punjab in Pakistan, the delta of Rivers Ravi & Chenab consisting of Districts of Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Gujranwala & Lahore has been gifted by nature with special alluvial clayey soil which irrigated by perennial waters of these rivers nurtured by monsoons during Paddy season in July & August, gives birth to finest Basmati Rice with its aroma, elongation & fluffiness upon cooking. It is in this delta that Basmati Rice is grown from centuries, which is not only the folklore of Punjab but also is the heritage of Pakistan.

It is here in this delta that the British established the world famous Rice Research Institute at Kala Shah Kaku in 1926 which developed first Basmati-370 line in 1933, which is the father of all Basmati varieties existing in Indo-Pak Sub-Continent today.

It is also here in this delta of River Ravi & Chenab in District Sheikhupura that Reem Rice Mills is located in village Dahla Wahga between the famous Rice Mandies of Muridke & Narang. During Paddy season from July to November Reem Rice Plant is surrounded by lush green Paddy fields & it is from there onwards that the development of special Reem Basmati starts each year.
